Cervone to Appear in Atlanta Ballet’s Nutcracker

For the Times-Herald
For twelve-year-old Catherine Cervone of Newnan, dance is her middle name...and
her first love.
For the third consecutive year, the talented young dancer will be part of the
“The Nutcracker” of the Atlanta Ballet Company at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. It’s a pre-Christmas must
for Atlanta area residents.
The first week of December, Cervone and her mother went to Dallas, Texas where
Catherine competed in the Southern Regional Oireachtas. The event is an invitation-only competition for Irish dancing. The
Texas gathering determined who will be competing in next year’s National and World Championships.
Catherine will repeat her “Nutcracker” role of last year as a Munchkin
Chef. She studies ballet and modern dance at Dance Contempra in Peachtree City.
She is currently a junior company member of Evolving Pointe Ensemble.
Catherine is also a member of “Waves of Grace” liturgical dance
group at the family’s parish of St. Mary Magdalene in Newnan. The interdenominational ensemble has dance for various
churches on the Southside.
No telling where this very talented dancer will appear next. She is ready when
the music is.
